The 10th Seo-myeon Korean Culture Experience Festival enables visitors to experience diverse kinds of traditional culture and folk games. The festival is held from Apr. 28 to 29 on the lawn plaza near the North Gate in Busan Municipal Park (across Busan National Gugak Center).
Seo-myeon Medical Street includes the area across from the Lotte Department Store Busan (Seo-myeon Intersection-Exit No. 6 of Buam Station) and the cluster of medical institutions to the southeast of Lotte Department Store.
This street is the cluster of medical technology, which can’t be easily found in other regions of the world, where 170 medical clinics including those doing cosmetic surgery, dental, and ophthalmic clinics are closely lined up. This street is the hub of tourism with a variety of things to eat and see including Lotte Department Store, Lotte Hotel, duty-free shops, a casino, Bujeon Market Town, food street, Seo-myeon 1st Avenue, and Young Street.
The Bujeon Market Town Activation Zone Merchants Association holds the ‘Eat, See and Enjoy Festival with Customers’ (Eat, See and Enjoy Festival) in the public parking lot in Bujeon Market Town, Busanjin-gu as a greeting for the season to make Kimchi for winter around Nov. every year. The festival is held as a part of an endeavor to widely acknowledge the name of Bujeon Market Town and make it known for global tourism.
Samgwangsa Temple holds the ‘Samgwangsa Lantern Festival’ from Apr. 27 to May 14 by installing about 40,000 lanterns as a greeting for Buddha’s birthday in 2016. The lantern tunnel is made in Samgwangsa Temple and a variety of events and performances are presented. Selected as the representative lantern festival in Korea, Samgwangsa has been holding the ‘Samgwangsa Lantern Festival’ by installing about 40,000 lanterns to celebrate the ‘Buddha’s Birthday’ on May 14 every year.
A small and simple Christmas tree festival is held every year in Seo-myeon, Busan. The Christmas Tree Culture Festival starts with the lighting ceremony in front of Yeonggwang Books (fountain) on Seo-myeon Culture Street for one month every December.
Held around Seo-myeon Culture Street symbolizing youth, Busanjin-gu Christmas Culture Festival is installed in front of Yeonggwang Books. The photo zone for taking photos with friends or families and Christmas trees are installed on gingko trees and street lights in about 100m from the entrance of Seo-myeon Culture Street to Yeonggwang Books.
The 2018 Busan Jin-gu Book Festival was held in Busan Municipal Park on Oct. 13. Greeting its 8th anniversary, the festival presented great pleasure to families and tourists. Children joined the fierce competition in the Treasure Hunt in Books and the Reading Golden Bell.
The booths exhibiting rare books, selling new books and best sellers at cheaper prices, reading one book per person, and a book café increased the interest in reading. Busanjin-gu Institutions and Customs Photo Exhibition, and the Busanjin-gu Past and Present Photo Exhibition drew a number of visitors all day long.
As one of ’52 World Tourist Attractions of the Year’ selected by New York Times in 2017 and as the only one tourist attraction selected in Korea, Jeonpo Café Street presents an exotic and unique mood with about 170 shops, including cozy and unique cafes, restaurants, and craftwork shops in a unique design where we can find our own characteristics, as well as composure and healing in the downtown with about 300 shops, including electronics and electric wholesale shops and parts, components and tools. It was the slum in the back alley flourishing with hardware and tool shops several years ago. Coffee fruit wall paintings and the flower photo zone on game yard fence of Jeonpo Catholic Church near the street are enjoying substantial popularity on SNS.
