Seo-myeon Specialized Street

The themes ‘Love’, ‘Friendship’, and ‘Promise’ are applied to three plazas, Youth Street, Food Street and Private Institute Street around Seo-myeon Taehwa Judies, and each relevant structure has been installed. The street is used for art activities, including a variety of performances. It’s the downtown street filled with vitality and energy, presenting lots of things to see and enjoy.

Seo-myeon 1st Street generally means a section of 80m including Jungang-ro (Geumgang Shoe), Green Street and Bujeon Covered River and the cross-shaped backside road section of 420m (8m wide) including the backside road next to the (former) Cheonujang, (former) Mariposa intersection and the LG Electronics Service Center in Seo-myeon. Seo-myeon 1st Street was named in 1990 to highlight the symbolic meaning of the Cooperatives of Shopkeepers. While the commercial area along the street around Judies Shoe, it is relatively well developed with theaters, bars, and cafes are closely packed along the street, Seo-myeon 1st Street was famous far in the past.

The elegant street was made in Seo-myeon. The sound from falling leaves is elegant and the sound from rolling leaves is also graceful. The yellow leaves of thick gingko trees on both sides of the street are ready to be red at any time. Those leaves dye the head, shoulder, and mind yellow as they fall down. The yellow dye delicately spreads over the passersby.

As one of ’52 World Tourist Attractions of the Year’ as selected by New York Times in 2017 and as the only tourist attraction selected in Korea, Jeonpo Café Street presents the exotic and unique mood with about 170 shops, including cozy and unique cafes, restaurants and craftwork shops with unique designs where we can find our own characteristics, as well as composure and healing in the downtown, and about 300 other shops including electronics and an electric wholesale shops along with parts, components and tool shops. It was a slum in the back alley flourishing with hardware and tool shops several years ago. Coffee fruit wall paintings and the flower photo zones on the game yard fence of the Jeonpo Catholic Church near the street are enjoying substantial popularity on SNS.

Gold Theme Street is closely packed with jewelry shops.
This street with jewelry shops in Beomcheon-dong represents the jewelry shops in Busan.
Shops were scattered in diverse areas in the downtown from the early 1980s but naturally gathered into Beomcheon-dong. As a traditional market type area with shops dispersed in several buildings, not a single building, this gold street is the largest area for jewelry shops in the southern region outside of Seoul.

Seo-myeon Medical Street includes the area across from the Lotte Department Store Busan (Seo-myeon IntersectionExit No. 6 of Buam Station) and the cluster of medical institutions to the southeast of Lotte Department Store.

This street is the cluster of medical technologies that can’t be easily found in other regions in the world, where 170 medical clinics including, those performing cosmetic surgery, dental and ophthalmic clinics are closely lined up. This street is the hub of tourism with a variety of things to eat and see including the Lotte Department Store, Lotte Hotel, duty-free shops, a casino, Bujeon Market Town, food street, Seo-myeon 1st Avenue, and Young Street.

Dongcheon Gingko Street

Dongcheon Gingko Street stretches from Seo-myeon NC Department Store to The Sharp Central Star. As the first exclusive public transportation district in Busan, the wide pavement focusing on pedestrians becomes the new dignity street of youth culture.

With lots of floating population in Seo-myeon flocking into the neighborhood, areas including Seo-myeon Specialized Street, NC Department Store Seomyeon and Jeonpo Café Street, the street holds an Art Free Market every Saturday and Sunday from Mar. 26 (open at noon) to Dec. Handicraft and artworks by young start-ups are displayed and sold, and a variety of cultural events including street art performances are presented.
